Expectations for LOWE RUNNING CLUB participants:
- Treat teachers, parents, coaches and other students with kindness and respect.
- Be quiet, calm and attentive to coaches prior to practice (i.e., while in Cafeteria; and, as Carpool is dismissing); and during practice and Meets (i.e., in Team Tent and warm-ups).
- Be punctual to all practices and Meets (please arrive prior to first scheduled race in order to support and cheer on teammates).
- Give your best effort (work hard, don’t complain, have fun, and encourage others).
Classroom Teachers and Assistant Coaches will inform Coach Conroy and/or Principal Allain of infractions committed by a student participating in LOWE RUNNING CLUB.
Infractions can include but are not limited to:
- Disrespectful Behavior toward other students, coaches or parents (e.g., inappropriate language or gestures, unwillingness to participate, physical contact, unsportsmanlike conduct, etc.).
- Classroom Academic Issues (incomplete homework, lack of effort in class work, unsatisfactory grades).
- Late Pick-up from practice.
Consequences
- Three (3) Infractions = One (1) Meet Suspension
- One (1) Classroom Discipline Referral = One (1) Meet Suspension
- Two (2) Meet Suspensions = Removal from Team
Attendance Policy and Suspension Guidelines
- If you are absent from school, you are not allowed to practice or run in a meet on the same day. (unless granted an approved early dismissal)
- Please show up for the races that you sign up for and we place your runner into.
- Please don’t try to time your arrival to the posted race time. The races will mostly run on a rolling start. This means that as each race finishes they will begin the next race. In some instances the meet will start the next race before the previous one has ended. If you are trying to time your arrival there is a chance that your runner will miss their race. Your runner needs to be at the meet at least an hour before the first race. This allows for:
- Getting your race bib, timing chip, or other items needed for the race and getting them placed on the uniform.
- Meet walk through if one is done for that race.
- Stretching and warm-ups.
- In the Fall Cross Country season we depend on our team runners to be there and will have a race sign up for each race.
- During the Spring Running Club distance races we are a bit more flexible as there is no team vs. open race format meaning all runners from the specified grade level will compete together.
- For the Spring Track and Field races it will be very important that you make it to the races that you commit your runner to. Scrambling to find last minute replacements on race day for individual events puts a lot of stress on the coaches and meet officials and in some cases the meet director will not allow event substitutions.
- Each late pick-up from practice will count as an infraction (unless discussed and approved by Coach Conroy). If you are going to be late all we ask is that you please call or text us to let us know. Late pick-ups cause the coaches and their families to miss special events and family time.
If suspended from a Meet:
- Student-Athlete will be allowed to participate in other school day events (e.g., pep-rally, fundraisers, etc. This is subject to change depending on severity of infraction.)
- Student-Athlete is expected to attend the Meet from which they are suspended to encourage and cheer on their teammates.
- Student-Athlete must participate in all team-building and team sportsmanship activities (e.g., pre-Meet warm-ups, team cheers, etc.)
Please be aware that these conditions are subject to change pending administrative decisions.
